List

Every single year my birthday rolls round and I have no idea what I want, which means that I then end up getting my parents and everyone into something of a panic about three days beforehand. So I’ve decided to be super-organised and put up a list here, mainly for my own use (although if any of you lovely readers wish to get me a tribute of some kind I’ll not stop you :P ) and add to it as I go along. This also means I can send a link to my parents as we approach August… Oh, how odd the 21st century can be…

  • A small filofax with a nice cover – a funky pattern or bright, cheery plain colour. Because I’m really that interesting…
  • A new sleeping bag. Yes, I know, I lost my old one, and I’m sorry…!
  • A set of wine glasses for my house next year (I’m thinking of glass-painting them with acrylics or similar, so plain ones would be nice unless you espy a set of really interesting ones, like those recycled glass ones you get made of corona beer bottles turned upside down and rearranged a bit)
  • Large photo album
  • Double duvet set in something other than minimalist white (I already have two of those, I think…!)
  • Most of the contents of Adili.
  • Specifically this top, but only if it goes on sale and I haven’t already bought it… I can’t justify it, but I just love it.
  • A rucksack of the sloppy old canvas or leather variety to slope around campus with looking artsy and studenty and cool but also practical, so I don’t actually ruin my shoulders…
  • A floaty, flowery dress, absolutely standard, of the sort that I’d buy from Cath Kidston if I could ever possibly afford any of her stuff. Something out of the forties, like what Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller wear in The Edge Of Love. I found this one on the Cath Kidston site as an example.
  • Cushion covers. And, you know, cushions. So that I can make our house next year feel all housey-housey. Also I have patterns for some knitted cushion covers in a book I got for christmas, so wool. For cushions. Ask me about it first.
  • Generalised housewarming gifts – stuff for the walls, framed photos of Good Times, candles…
  • An electric piano. Please, please, please!
  • A bike. Because I’m sensible. With a basket and a sort of rundown don’t-even-bother-stealing-me dogeared and well-loved look.

Ooooh, I like the Adili necklaces! But, ohw, the prices :(

I really need to sort out my photos, damn the digital era.

hehe, well, nothing on that list bar the photo album, but then having made the above list I decided they were all things I should hunt down and budget for myself, as and when I can :) . Instead I got a petticoat (I know, I’m really exciting, but I really wanted one!!), I’m going to get a new dressing gown – that fits, isn’t falling apart, covered in hair dye, or a precious family heirloom, like the three I currently own respectively – as and when I find a pattern for one I like (my mother is getting a sewing machine for her birthday, in a month, so, y’know…), some weights (also as yet to be bought), many books, courtesy of my sister, a new handbag (at long last), and a pretty new towel (the one major concession towards housewarming gifts). I also got a ticket to Towersey festival, thanks to P (who would probably freak out a bit if he saw how frequently he gets mentioned here, mainly because of that ticket, but I am excited, damn-it!). I meant when I made this list to update it as time went on, but of course, I never did!

Towersey Festival!? No waaay! I was down that way today! Any acts you’re particulary looking forward to seeing, have you/he ever been before? Are you going for the whole weekend? Too many questions, I know…

The other stuff is exciting too, but I can only ask for photos (par exemple of the petticoat, handbag) and I’m sure I’ll be disappointed if I make such a request…

I’ve never been before but he’s been every year since he was literally two months old, I gather! As for acts I’m looking forward to, we saw Edward II at Larmer Tree and that was great fun; ditto Mawkin:Causley who are brilliantly danceable if I remember rightly. I’ve heard some good stuff about Shooglenifty, I’d sort of like to see Jim Moray again to see if his set is better than it was at Larmer Tree (it fell a bit flat and I felt pretty sorry for him). To be honest I’m still completely new to this scene so I’m going to probably go and see anything and everything P suggests. I’ll check out some people on Spotify first and, well, it should be amazing. And yes, we’re going for the whole festival, arriving on Thursday 27th and leaving on about the 1st or 2nd :) . Have you ever been? Are you going? What would you recommend I go and see whilst I’m tehre?

Sorry about my total failure to ever provide photos! I’ll honestly see what I can do about starting to post photos of exciting things I acquire and experience reasonably soon – perhaps I’ll do a photojournal post of all the things one needs to see from my summer bar the people involved, for partial anonymity’s sake, when I get back!! This will include therefore some Towersey photos, presents, and probably my revision notes because I’m just that cool. And some scenic bits of Wales because it was lovely and I would like to go back, please!
